Gene expression values can be simulated by drawing values from a normal distribution with mean μ and standard deviation σ. The choice of μ and σ depends on the age group of a sample and the type of pattern each gene is simulating. The complete list of μ and σ used to simulate the seven artificial microarray datasets are shown here, given as μ, σ pairs.
