Dotted lines show MDL for a range of standard errors (exon) and dispersion parameters (tag-seq). IDL is the instrument detection limit defined as 367 when 95% confidence was used for exon microarrays and 18 for tag-seq when the linear mean-variance negative binomial regression was used. In the pure sample detection of signal is not possible below the IDL.
