Phylogenetic relationships between species in section Tomentosae and N. sylvestris as determined by the distribution of repetitive DNA markers. 35S rDNA – yellow; tandem repeats: GRS –pink, NTRS - orange, GRD3 - red, GRD5 - red with yellow centre, HRS60 - blue and white (found only in N. sylvestris). Fluorescence in situ hybridisation of 35S rDNA on Nicotiana chromosomes (yellow signals) with chromosomes counterstained blue with DAPI.
