The distribution of GR, KLF and PPARγ binding sites at Dex/LPS-responsive genes in BMMФ. (A) For each expression cluster (Figure 1), the frequencies of genes with binding sites for at least one of the TF (GR [32], KLF [36] or PPARγ [38, 39]) within the region encompassing the gene and 15 Kb of flanking sequences on each side (blue) was compared to those in random group of non-expressors (RPKM < 1, red), low expressors (1 < RPKM < 10, green) and all expressing genes (RPKM > 1, orange) in BMMФ. (B) A select group of Dex-responsive genes contains clusters of GR (black - macrophages (this study), crosshatched - adipocytes [32], red - C2C12 cells [33]), KLF4 (blue; [36]) and PPARγ (green; [38]) binding sites.
