Note that these properties were calculated according to the global interactome and not to a particular subnetwok. No significant differences were found between distributions of degree. By contrast, differences were significant between distributions of average shortest path length (Mann–Whitney U-test, P < 0.0001). As controls, the distributions of a representative random sample and the whole interactome are shown
