Fig. 5

Normalized gene expression of four genes bearing TE insertions in three different tissues. Each ΔCt corresponds to the average of four biological replicates, each with three qRT-PCR technical replicates. PYR (Pyruvate carboxylase – Lus10022077), RAB1 (Rabgap/TBC domain containing protein 1 – Lus10036500), RAB2 (Rabgap/TBC domain containing protein 2 – Lus10040349), LAC (Laccase-13-related – Lus10026400). All pairwise comparison in each gene and tissue, were performed using unpaired two-tailed t-tests, and significant differences were calculated after Bonferroni correction (p < 0.005). Numbers above represent significant differences of the respective cultivar to other cultivars which are numbered as: 1. Lutea, 2. Oleane, 3. Stormont Cirrus, 4. Oliver, 5. Bethune. Error bars = standard deviation. The red outline in roots depicts the only expression pattern in agreement with the insertion of a TE (TE inserted in the Laccase gene of S. Cirrus and absent in the rest of the cultivars)
