Typical structure of intron-containing serpin genes. The cDNA sequence that were assembled from trace archive EST sequences were aligned with supercontig DNA sequences using the Spidey mRNA and genomic DNA alignment software at NCBI [43] and identified the donor-acceptor splice sites (GT-AG). Displayed here is S3 whose cDNA was assembled from trace archive EST and its mate, accession #s 1446657576/1446661330 respectively. The cDNA was mapped onto genomic DNA sequences corresponding to whole genome shotgun sequence (ABJB010418850, ABJB011135496, ABJB0109755250 and ABJB010321224). The first and second exons encode the 5' untranslated region (UTR) and while the third and fourth exon encode the open reading frame, and the 3' UTR.
