Selection within T. annulata / T. parva gene families. Fifteen gene families were identified in the genomes of T. annulata and T. parva containing seven or more members, together with a group of putative single-copy antigen-encoding genes (n = 10). The mean dNdS value along with the standard error for each of these families was calculated and the families ranked according to increasing mean dNdS. The low dNdS group consists of 'housekeeping' gene families and the high dNdS group includes several gene families which encode secreted products.
