Selection within T. annulata / T. parva gene families. Fifteen gene families were identified in the genomes of T. annulata and T. parva containing seven or more members, together with a group of putative single-copy antigen-encoding genes (n = 10). The mean d_Nd_S value along with the standard error for each of these families was calculated and the families ranked according to increasing mean d_Nd_S. The low d_Nd_S group consists of 'housekeeping' gene families and the high d_Nd_S group includes several gene families which encode secreted products.
