At macroscopic level, the variations were detected in the presence of glucose (A) were more striking with glycerol (B) (magnification × 10). At microscopic level (C), the neutral red staining observed shows that diploid and haploid parental cells (denoted wt-2n and wt-n, respectively) have classical ellipsoidal shapes, whereas revertants are more elongated and form aggregates (magnification × 1000).
