The transgenic papaya produces sRNAs corresponding to the transgene region of the viral genome while in non-transgenic plant the sRNAs come from throughout the viral genome. SunUp papaya is transgenic cultivar transformed with coat protein gene of the PRSV, AU9 is non-transtgenic cutivar. The green box shows the coat protein region of the PRSV genome.
