  1. The distribution of families within clans of aspartic (AA, AD), cysteine (CA, CD, CE, CF, CO), metallo (M-, MA, MC, ME, MF, MG, MH, MJ, MK, MM, MP) and serine (PA, SB, SC, SE, SF, SJ, SK, SP, SR, ST) proteases of Eimeria tenella is compared with its host (Gallus gallus, the chicken) and other protozoan parasites from the MEROPs database of peptidases in whole genome sequences (merops.sanger.ac.uk/cgi-bin/compgen_index?type=P; [34]). Sequences for non-peptidase homologs are not included in the table. G.g = Gallus gallus; E.t = Eimeria tenella; T.g = Toxoplasma gondii; C.P. = Cryptosporidium parvum; C.h = Cryptosporidium hominis; C.m = Cryptosporidium muris; P.f = Plasmodium falciparum; P.v = Plasmodium vivax; P.b = Plasmodium berghei; P.c = Plasmodium chabaudi; P.y = Plasmodium yoelii; T.a = Theileria parva; P.a = Theileria annulata; E.d = Entamoeba dispar; L.b = Leishmania braziliensis; L.i = Leishmania infantum; L.m = Leishmania major; T. b = Trypanosoma brucei; T.c = Trypanosoma cruzi; T. v = Trichomona vaginalis; G.i = Giardia intestinalis.
