Metagenomic samples can be clustered well using dissimilarity measure d 2 S|M 0 . Example of a clustering of 90 samples in Simulation 1 obtained at sequencing depth = 10,000 reads per sample, with k = 6 and dissimilarity measure d2S|M0. The true clusters are labeled by three colors and symbols (red triangles, green squares and blue discs). The parsimony test score is 10 in this example with p- value less than 0.001.
