ITSs-rDNA maximum parsimony tree places O. piceae within the Pezizomycotina. O. piceae was originally described by Münch in 1907 [4]; this species and closely related species (e.g. O. setosum, O. canum, O. novo-ulmi, O. ulmi and O. floccosum O. quercus) are reported as the O. piceae complex. The numbers on the branches of the tree are bootstrap values based on 1000 replicates and the heuristic option [9].
