In panels A, B, and C are the phage clusters that presented high diversity in their tailspikes and fibers. In panels D, E, and F are the phage clusters that presented low diversity in their tailspikes and fibers. The analyses consisted in pairwise comparisons of the amino acids identity. Identity percentage for tailspike or fiber is indicated for pairs of phages that are shown next to each other in this figure (see Additional file 6 for the complete pairwise comparison). Grey boxes in cluster 5 represent the allele of tail fibers only found in phages FSL SP-031, FSL SP-038, and FSL SP-049.
