Viruses were divided into groups based on the genomic composition: RNA+: positive strand RNA viruses; RNA-: negative strand RNA viruses; rtRNA: reverse transcribing viruses (Retroviridae, Hepadnaviridae and Caulimnoviridae); dsRNA: double-stranded RNA viruses; ssDNA: single stranded DNA viruses as indicated in the inset box.
