In each comparison X ─ > Y, the genes in species X is divided into genes with at least one conserved ortholog-neighbourhood in species Y (Conserved), genes with at least one conserved and at least one diverged neighbourhood in Y (Conserved and Diverged), genes with at least one diverged neighbourhood in Y (Diverged) and genes with no significant neighbourhoods in Y (None). These are the number of genes behind the fractions plotted in Figure 4D-F (at a CLR threshold of two). (B) Corresponding to (A) but now each comparison X ─ > Y, Z requires that a gene is e.g. conserved if at least one ortholog-neighbourhood is conserved in both species Y and Z.
