Partial pathways for aromatic amino acid biosynthesis detected in the A. glabripennis larval midgut microbiome. In some cases, pathways encoded by the gut microbiota can be complemented by transcripts derived from A. glabripennis. For example, gut microbes encoded full pathways for the biosynthesis of the essential aromatic amino acid phenylalanine, while A. glabripennis produces the enzymes necessary to convert phenylalanine derived from microbes into tyrosine.
