  1. OD600 indicates the optical density at which each bacterial sample was subjected to RNA isolation. Total reads represent the number of high-quality reads. Unique reads represents reads that mapped to unique portions of the B. anthracis genome or pXO1 plasmid, excluding ribosomal RNA. Unique reads (%) was calculated as the ratio of unique reads to total reads. Gene reads refers to the number of unique reads that mapped to known protein-coding genes. Gene reads (%) was calculated as the ratio of gene reads to unique reads.
