  1. †Large repeats containing the ribosomal operon in chloroplast genomes were queried for size and sequence homology between the 16S and 23S ribosomal subunits. The three organisms Cyanidioschyzon merolae (Rhodophyta), Bryopsis hypnoides (Chlorophyta) and Monomorphina aenigmatica (Chlorophyta) were omitted from the small repeat statistical analyses because of the presence of a greatly expanded tandem repeat structure or large (>200 bp) repeat structures, which causes an over representation the repeat structure due to the counting nature of the analyses presented.
