Blue and red light-induced changes in transcript accumulation of genes encoding photosynthesis components. The reproductive and somatic cells from vegetative algae were separated 3 h before initiation of cleavage divisions and incubated for 26 h in the dark before exposure to blue (A, 470 nm; 15 μmol photons m-2 s-1) and red (B, 655 nm; 15 μmol photons m-2 s-1) light for 1 hour (Additional file 1: Figure S1A-B). The transcript levels were calculated using the 2-∆∆Ct method and RACK1 as reference gene. Each experiment was performed in triplicate from at least two different biological samples. The data were averaged and statistically treated (t-test, *P < 0.05; **P < 0.01). Bars show means and standard deviations.
