  1. aGenes encoding proteins with a predicted secretion signal that were upregulated at least 5-fold in the sample A. oligospora infecting M. hapla (Ao(Mh)) compared to the sample A. oligospora infecting H. schachtii (Ao(Hs)) and in Ao(Hs) compared to Ao(Mh). Genes that were expressed (≥1 read) in both libraries and that had ≥5 read in any of the libraries were included in the analysis, in total 4 138 genes.
  2. bNon-annotated genes of A. oligospora were further characterized by searches through the UniProt database [47] using the BLASTP algorithm [25] with an E-value threshold of 1e-10. Fungal sequences were chosen among the top hits.
