Profile-based search reveals relationship between SRP9 and SRP21. PROFILESEARCH (Wisconsin package version 10.2, Genetics Computer Group (GCG), Madison, Wisc.) with default parameters was used with a profile based on a multiple alignment of SRP21 from Saccharomyces species created with CLUSTALW. The database queried was one where all the SRP21-related proteins identified here were merged with Swissprot/TREMBL. Swissprot/TREMBL names are given for the sequences except for the six Saccharomyces, N. crassa and C. albicans sequences identified here. YE07_SCHPO is the S. pombe SRP21 / SRP9 homolog. The Saccharomyces sequences at the top of the list (lighter gray) were those used to create the profile.
