MagT1 mRNA expression is responsive to magnesium. Where indicated MDCT cells were cultured in normal (1.0 mM) or low (<0.01 mM) magnesium media for 16 h. Kidney cortical tissue was harvested from mice on normal (0.05% by weight) or low magnesium (<0.01%) diets for 5 days. MagT1 and murine ß-actin RNA was measured with Real-Time RT PCR (AB7000^TM, Applied Biosystems) using SYBR Green^TM fluorescence. Data is from 10-12 PCRs performed on five separate cultures or animals in each group maintained on low and normal magnesium.
