  1. Variations in gene transcript levels measured by quantitative RT-PCR in response to virus infection. Calculated mean of the relative cDNA starting quantity (N0) and consequential fold changes (V/C: virus/control) for selected Spodoptera frugiperda genes in control and virus-infected hemocytes and fat body 24 hours after injection. Minimum and maximum values obtained from the 18 or 24 replicates are given in addition to the mean N0 value. For HdIV assays, the control consisted in injection of PBS, for JcDNV (DNV), in injection of healthy S. frugiperda larvae crushed in PBS; HdIV95 corresponds to injections of heat-inactivated HdIV. H/F: ratio of the relative cDNA starting quantity (N0) between hemocytes and fat body in control PBS samples. ND: not done; NS: not significant; fold change threshold at 1.5 for both microarray and quantitative RT-PCR analyses, with FDR median and 90th percentiles at 0%.
