(A) In the human cell lines, Ap shows transcription beginning upstream of omp-1N (and p44-18ES, the p44 expression locus) near coordinate 1289280, but there is no specific transcription in the tick cell line. Transcription regulator tr1 (APH_1218) is not transcribed in the human cell lines but is in the tick cell line. (B) ApxR (APH_0515), a putative regulator of p44 transcription – through binding to and inhibiting the tr1 promoter – shows low-level transcription in the human cell lines but none in the tick cell line.
