  1. The genes involved in fatty acid biosynthesis that are induced by about two-fold or greater levels at 4 hours are listed. Only a selective number of fatty acid genes are induced by IGF-1. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase a key and rate-limiting enzyme in the pathway shows no detectable transcriptionally induction. Genes common to the fatty acid and cholesterol biosynthetic pathways (see Table 4) are indicated (*) and genes showing 'No Change' in expression levels are also listed (N/C).
