Comparison of the in vitro replication of PR8 and PR8mut influenza viruses. (A) Individual plaques of PR8 and PR8mut. Plaques were revealed by immunostaining with an anti-M2 ectodomain-specific monoclonal antibody. (B) Multi-cycle growth analysis of PR8 and PR8mut viruses. MDCK cells were infected in triplicate at a MOI of 0.01 of PR8 or PR8mut virus. Every twelve hours after infection, samples in the cell supernatant were analyzed for the presence of infectious virus by plaque assay. Error bars represent the standard deviation.
