Examples of relationship between mRNA patterns of ribosome occupancy and functional features of the encoded proteins. Upper part: pattern of ribosome occupancy in the 150–300 region of the FtsH gene, where a number of FT features are annotated. Lower part: same representation for the iscR gene. In this case the figure includes the whole gene and hence one of the peaks correspond to the translational ramp at the beginning of the gene. Although not annotated as FT in Uniprot, the region around the only two beta sheets of this protein is also involved in DNA binding. In both cases the proteins are coded in the reverse DNA strand and hence they go from right to left
