Fig. 8From: Age and prior blood feeding of Anopheles gambiae influences their susceptibility and gene expression patterns to ivermectin-containing blood mealsPhylogenetic tree of the NPC1 gene family in Anopheles species. The Aedes aegypti Niemann-Pick C1a protein (AAEL003325) was used to identify the orthologues in Anopheles gambiae s.l., An. gambiae s.s., An. arabiensis, An. melas (note the duplication), An. merus, An. coluzzii, and An. quadrimaculatus. The Ae. aegypti Niemann-Pick C1b protein (AAEL009531) was used to identify the orthologues in Anopheles gambiae s.l. For both NPC1a and NPC1b, Anopheles christyi and An. epiroticus were included as outgroups. The amino acid alignment contained 1818 characters.
