Hierarchical clustering analysis of the 14 Fe-regulated sRNA in 345 complete and draft genomes revealed four clusters. Cluster A was a small group of draft commensal genomes with limited homology to Nrf sRNAs. Commensals in cluster 3a showed a similar pattern of sRNA expression as cluster 3b containing the bulk of the meningococcal genomes. Gonococcal genomes were represented in cluster 2 with NrsD, NrsE and NrfG found only in N. gonorrhoeae.
