The effect of T6SS on virulence on apple (left) and pear (right) plants. Shoots were inoculated with a bacterial suspensions containing approximately 108 cfu ml−1 of a single strain derivative. Lesion lengths were measured at weekly intervals over a 4-week period post inoculation. Values of percent lesion length represent the means of 25 plants with standard deviation. A two-way ANOVA with mean comparisons using the Fisher’s LSD test at a significance level of 5% was used to test for statistical significant differences. The T6SS double mutant showed higher lesion length in apple during the time course, whereas no differences to the WT could be detected in pear
