qPCR verification of selected RNAseq data. Ten transcripts were selected from the Sertoli cell specific group in Additional file 5 and expression was measured in iDTR mice 7, 30, 90 and 365 days after a single injection of DTX. The mean ± SEM is shown with 4–7 animals per group. For direct comparison, the transcript levels at day 7 (expressed as a percentage of control levels) are shown beside each graph for both RNAseq and qPCR data. Transcript species Etd, Slc9a2, Peg10, Pde4b and Aqp8 showed significant (P < 0.05) age-dependent differences between controls
