Distribution of genes with direct (green) and delayed translation (red) among functional categories for tetrads (a), post-meiotic (b) and mature pollen (c). Genes are considered as directly translated if transcript and protein are increased in the same stage, whereas delayed translation implies that first the transcript is increased and the protein increase is shifted by one stage. All genes assigned to at least one functional category are considered. Genes assigned to several categories are counted in each category. Categories comprising at least 5% of the genes with an assigned function are shown
