High correlations between RNA-seq and RT-qPCR expression measures. Eight genes identified as differentially expressed among clinical isolates by RNA-seq were validated by RT-qPCR for 49 of the independent RNA preparations from the four laboratory-adapted clones and six cultured clinical isolates under study. Scatter plots for each gene show the RT-qPCR gene of interest (GOI) copies (log2-transformed) normalised to house-keeping gene copies (HKG; PF3D7_0717700), correlated with the RNA-seq GOI FPKM values (log2-transformed) normalised to HKG FPKM values. Spearman’s correlation coefficients are shown for each plot
