Orange colour in heatmap corresponds to single copy orthologues, other colours used for orthologous groups with multiple member per genome (see colour code on the right). An expanded version of this heatmap is given in Additional file 8: Figure S5, where all orthologous groups are shown, regardless of COG annotation availability
