CACNG6 is missing from birds. While CACNG7 and CACNG8 are present, the syntenic paralog CACNG6 cannot be found in birds. The different orientations (arrows point in 5′ to 3′ direction) and relative positions of CYTH2, LMTK3, and RPS9 across phylogeny suggests multiple rearrangement events in this genomic region, possibly in an avian ancestor.
