Natural variation for flowering time. Box-plots showing genetic variation for flowering time in a diverse panel of canola accessions, which were grown across five experiments under field, and controlled environment conditions (cabinets). Days to flowering were scored in 2017: Field plots at Wagga Wagga (flood irrigated) and Condobolin (Condo, rainfed); Single rows at Wagga Wagga (lateral move irrigation); Days to flowering were scored in long day condition (LD, 16 h) and short day condition (SD, 8 h) plants under cabinets. Genotypes that did not flower till the end of experiment were also included and marked as flowering ‘assigned’ (LD-A and SD-A). A total of 368 accessions were evaluated for flowering time under LD and SD conditions, while 300 accessions were evaluated under field conditions. Details are given in Additional file 1: Table S1
