Mean percentage variation in TFTRs grouped by biological function. Percentage sequence variation of TFTRs grouped by function with standard error of the mean. TFTRs regulating efflux regulation, bleach survival or biofilm formation/dispersal have significantly higher percentage variance (Student’s t test p = 0.01) than those involved in cell division, metabolism or copper transport/tolerance. This was not a genera-dependant effect, with no significant difference between percentage variance of TFTRs between Escherichia and Salmonella genera
