Dissection microscope photos. Whole mounts with coronal cuts for hearts removed from littermate controls (a–c) and three mutants (d–f). All three mutants had visible signs of heart disease. Two mutants (e, f) show evidence of left atrial enlargement, right ventricular dilation with dramatic right wall thinning, and left ventricle hypertrophy. A third mutant (d) presents as slightly smaller than controls, but with significant atrial and ventricular fibrosis (arrow heads). All photos were taken at the same settings
