First, regions were selected so they were the same number and length as true HC/LC regions (not overlapping with each other). The remaining genomic regions not occupied by the selected random regions were taken as randomly expected BG regions. Then correlation between densities of randomly selected regions and a genomic feature was calculated to establish the null distribution
