Map of sampling locations used for individuals analyzed in microsatellite-based analyses for Sacramento splittail (Pogonichthys macrolepidotus) from the San Francisco Estuary, California, USA. The three western sites comprised the San Pablo Bay region of sampling, while sites east of Fairfield comprised the Central Valley region of sampling. Population reassignment with discriminant analysis of principal components with two clusters placed one cluster of which most individuals were caught in the San Pablo Bay region, and another cluster spread out among both regions of sampling (see Table 2 for details). As such, for microsatellite-based analyses, the individuals placed in the region characterized by the San Pablo Bay region are referred to as the San Pablo Bay population, and other individuals are referred to as the Central Valley population
