  1. aA gradient treenet boosting (GTB) algorithm was applied on transcriptomic dataset (26,687 molecular probes) from the whole blood of 148 growing pigs. Data were split into training (n = 74) and validation test (n = 74) subsets to evaluate model performance in classifying pigs into low or high residual feed intake (RFI) groups. The unique genes corresponding to the most relevant annotated probes able to predict feed conversion ratio (FCR) for each pig were listed. The score attributed to each probe gave hierarchy of importance in the predictive model
