Fig. 3

(A) Copy numbers of effector gene families expressed in the secretory gland cells. A comparison was made between Gr-Line19 (Green) and Gr-Line22 (Red). Bright shades of green/red indicate copies that contain a signal peptide for secretion. Faded shades of green/red indicate the absence of a signal peptide for secretion. Upward and downward pointing arrows are used to indicate increase or decrease of the number of variants with a predicted signal peptide for secretion in Gr-Lin22 as compared to Gr-line19. (B) Gene density comparison of all genes (total), eukaryotic universal single copy genes (BUSCO), effector genes secreted from the subventral esophageal gland cells (SG), and effector genes secreted from the dorsal esophageal gland cells (DG). The shortest distance of each gene was based on the closest adjacent gene (3’ or 5’) and is measured as the log10 number of base pairs. Statistical significance for each group was determined by comparison with the BUSCO gene set using a Wilcoxon test (P < 0.0001)
