Mitochondrial DNA Quantification. Genomic DNA abundance for mtnd5 and mt-atp6 was measured via TaqMan qPCR using the standard curve method for eggs at 1 hpf and the DDCT method with 18S ribosomal RNA as reference gene for eggs at 24 hpf. Results indicate no statistically significant differences in abundance of mtDNA between good and poor quality eggs at either stage (p > 0.05). GQ: Good quality eggs BQ: poor quality eggs
