A 158 bp minimal promoter of the ATEP3 upstream region confers MAMP responsivity. Five promoter fragments with the position of the seven WT-boxes are shown. All promoter fragments were cloned upstream of the uidA reporter gene and transient reporter gene experiments were done as described in Fig. 3. Relative GUS expression and standard deviations were determined from three independent experiments with technical duplicates. Statistical differences between experiments were determined with a t-test in microsoft excel. Statistically significant Pep25 inductions are indicated with asterisks as in Fig. 3
