Heat maps for 244 mycobacteria showing the presence of insertion sequence (IS) elements and bacteriophage derived sequences predicted using ISsaga [32] and Phaster [33], respectively. The “387 core gene” phylogenetic tree (see Fig. 2) and clade names are shown to the left (the branches and clades column are marked in pink and blue, alternating, while black mark single clades to facilitate guidance). The second and third columns indicate pathogenicity and growth rate, respectively, according to the colour key. The types of IS elements, and classification of predicted phage derived sequences are as indicated on the top. The different colors represent the numbers of IS elements and percentage of phage DNA per genome (see color key to the left in figure). Plots of the total number of predicted IS elements and percentage of phage DNA per genome are shown to the right of the respective heat maps
