Explanation

Male-enriched

Genes demonstrating greater transcript abundance in the testes relative to the ovaries.

Female-enriched

Genes demonstrating greater transcript abundance in the ovaries relative to the testes.

Testis-upregulated

Genes demonstrating greater transcript abundance in the testes relative to the male body (from which the testes have been removed).

Ovary-upregulated

Genes demonstrating greater transcript abundance in the ovaries relative to the female body (from which the ovaries have been removed).
