Results of expressed candidates in primer extension assay. RNA was subjected to primer extension using the oligonucleotide specified in Additional File 4. The products were separated on a 6% polyacrylamide. M-DNA marker, labelled pBR322 DNA Msp I digest. The arrowheads indicate the 5' end of full length transcripts. The numbers above the lanes indicate the candidates listed by candidate number as found in column 1 in Additional File 3, while the numbers below the lanes are sequential. Note that the gel is a composite. However, each experiment was performed in the same way. The same batch of total RNA was used, and the same amount of gel purified primer was used (50,000 cpm). Of the lanes analyzed, 11 (1,2,3,4,5,7,8,11,12,14,18) show extension products that are distinct or highly dominant and agree with the size predicted by the bioinformatic analysis.
