  1. ¤ A given assay can be homologous to more than one synthetic miRNA and thereby appear in more than one of the mismatch categories. This may cause the false positive rates to be over estimated.
  2. * 0 mismatches means that only the length differs between the synthetic miRNA and the miRNA assayed.
  3. §Number of assays with the given number of nucleotide mismatches to a miRNA in the synthetic samples.
  4. #An assay was scored as false positive if detected at Ct < 38 (miRCURY) or Ct < 30 (TaqMan) in one or more of the synthetic samples #1 and #2.
