Genes involved in the terpenoid biosynthesis pathways. Organ-wide transcript abundance heat-maps were drawn for top (a) and bottom (b) five transcripts in each organ. The clustering and heat-map analyses were done using R. Differential transcript abundance were calculated between terpenoid pathway related genes expressed in A. indica leaf to those in leaves of A. thaliana, C. sinensis and O. sativa, and V. vinifera, after normalizing the transcript abundance of all genes to that of elongation factor 1-alpha (EF1A). The differential indices were further log2-transformed and represented as cumulative bar histograms for all species (c).
